If there’s one thing for sure about UK tours, it’s that you’ll have to make a lot of small talk. Of course, this isn’t a bad thing; it’s all part of the rules of conversation and it is a completely necessary step in the friend making process.
For some small talk comes naturally, for others, it is a little more difficult. These people will be glad to learn that small talk is something you can practice at and get good at: UK tours give you the perfect opportunity to do this.
The importance of small talk
It doesn’t matter who you are or what place in society you hold: small talk is important. It is the part where you lay the foundations of your relationship with a human being. You find out about one another and then perhaps get to know each other more.
Unless you can make small talk with other human beings, you will never be able to excel socially in business or when you are travelling on UK tours. Luckily, small talk (and its rules) can be learned, as long as you are willing to put the work in and practice at it.
Advice for small talk on UK tours
When you are on UK tours you will have plenty of opportunity to engage in small talk. This will range from when you meet your tour-mates on the coach, to when you are in one of the UK’s famous public houses.
One tip to bear in mind is to try and find common interests with the person you are making small talk with. You may ask them what football team they support, or what their favourite colour is. Speak a little about yourself and take an active interest in what the other person is saying.
Do your best to at least remember the first name of the people you meet on UK tours. If you bump into them again, be sure to address them by their first name and with a firm handshake.
At first it can be quite nerve-racking when you strike up conversation with somebody you have never met before. You have to approach them and think of a good one-liner to get you off to a good start. The move you do it the better you will get.
By the end of your time on UK tours, you will have mastered the art of small talk. You will have more friend than you know what to do with.
